The partnership marks Paragon Custom Homes’ expansion into Carteret County and a new chapter for the 29th Annual Tournament.

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (January 23, 2026) —The Big Rock Keli Wagner Lady Angler Tournament is pleased to announce Paragon Custom Homes as the tournament’s new presenting sponsor. Now entering its 29th year, the Keli Wagner Tournament will take place June 5–6, 2026, in Morehead City.

Founded in 2006, Paragon Custom Homes is a well-established luxury custom homebuilder with a strong presence in the Raleigh and Wilmington markets and is now expanding into Carteret County. Known for its thoughtful approach to adaptive design, Paragon builds homes intended to support independence, comfort, and every phase of life, values that closely align with the mission and legacy of the Keli Wagner Lady Angler Tournament.

“As soon as we began discussing the presenting sponsor opportunity, it was clear Paragon was the perfect fit for this tournament,” said Carlee Sharpe, Tournament Director of the Keli Wagner Lady Angler Tournament. “Their passion for building with purpose and serving others aligns so naturally with the heart of this event. We’re proud to welcome Paragon to Carteret County and excited to help share their story and passion with our community.”

Paragon’s philosophy is deeply inspired by the legacy of Joshua B. Mauney’s grandfather, Poppy, who was also a builder and believed strongly in kindness, service, and investing in people. That influence continues to guide Paragon’s approach today, shaping homes designed to adapt to changing needs and support meaningful, long-term living.

“Paragon Custom Homes is deeply honored to serve as the presenting sponsor of this year’s Lady Angler Tournament in Morehead City,” said Josh, President of Paragon Custom Homes. “This event captures the confidence, resilience, and sense of freedom that define life on the coast, where tradition, challenge, and community come together on the water.”

“As we continue our expansion along the Crystal Coast, we are proud to invest in experiences that celebrate the coastal lifestyle and the people who make it so special,” Mauney continued. “At Paragon, our white glove custom homebuilding process is rooted in adaptive design and generational living, homes designed to support full lives, meaningful moments, and the ability to enjoy this season and every season of life that follows.”

“The Keli Wagner Lady Angler Tournament and The Big Rock represent more than competition,” Mauney added. “They reflect independence, stewardship, and legacy, values that mirror how we build and why we build. We are grateful to be part of a community that embraces adventure, purpose, and the beauty of creating something that lasts, on the water and at home.”

Throughout tournament week, the Paragon Custom Homes team will be on site engaging with participants, spectators, and the community, sharing their vision and celebrating the 29th Annual Keli Wagner Lady Angler Tournament.

BIG ROCK SETS NEW RECORD WITH $2 MILLION IN ANNUAL GIVING

$2 million awarded to organizations across Eastern North Carolina, bringing total contributions to nearly $14 million since 1986.

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (December 2, 2025) —Big Rock is honored to announce a record-breaking $2,000,000 in charitable giving for 2025, a milestone made possible by the unwavering support of the Big Rock community. This year’s funds will be distributed among a diverse group of charities that play crucial roles in education, healthcare, community improvement, and conservation. With this year’s gifts, Big Rock’s charitable impact reaches $13,962,948 contributed to organizations since 1986.

“Big Rock’s purpose has always been simple, to make this community as good as it possibly can be. When I first joined the board, we were giving about $20,000 a year to charity. Seeing that grow into what it is today has been remarkable. From cultural arts centers and aquariums to hospitals, ballfields, playgrounds, and schools, Big Rock has been instrumental in many of the things that make this community what it is.

And through all those years, one thing has never changed: we put Charity First. I’ve fished in more than 50 Big Rock tournaments, and what sets it apart is simple, everyone feels good about entering because they know that even if they don’t win, the community will.” – Casey Wagner, Big Rock President

A significant portion of this year’s giving will support students and educators across Carteret County, with $666,000 allocated to 14 of the county’s 19 public schools. These contributions will help create and enhance outdoor learning centers, upgrade athletic facilities, purchase new musical instruments, improve library collections, and support a wide range of academic and enrichment needs identified by principals throughout the district.

Major contributions this year also include $150,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plains to support construction of their new Beaufort facility, a space that will provide mentorship, safety, guidance, and opportunities for the next generation. Big Rock will also award $100,000 to the Town of Atlantic Beach for the construction of the new Big Rock Take A Kid Fishing Pier — a 200-foot pier with a 20-by-20 platform located at the base of the Atlantic Beach bridge. This project will create a welcoming, accessible fishing spot for families, children, and visitors for years to come.

The Foundation is also proud to award $50,000 to the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores for enhancements to the Tidal Waters Exhibit Touch Tank. Big Rock’s grant is part of the Poole Family Challenge, a generous pledge by Ven and Lisa Poole to match every gift made in support of this exhibit, up to $500,000. The Poole family has deep ties to Big Rock, winning the tournament in 1998 — Ven and Lisa are avid tournament participants aboard the 67′ Jarrett Bay Waste Knot, and Ven’s father, Lonnie Poole, is a longtime Big Rock Board member, now serving in emeritus status. Their commitment to this project adds another layer of meaning to Big Rock’s contribution.

Additional awards will support organizations and municipalities across the county, including local sheriff and police departments, public works initiatives, and other community-driven projects that strengthen safety, infrastructure, and public spaces.

“Each Big Rock giving cycle seems to get more exciting and more challenging. We had a record number of grant requests this year, which makes for an overwhelming but incredibly gratifying decision-making process. We are thrilled to continue our support of schoolchildren, young people, and their families throughout the region with a record-breaking year of contributions.” – Tommy Bennett, Big Rock Vice President & Charity Committee Chairman

Big Rock will continue its annual commitment to its Core Charities, providing $139,500 to 10 longstanding partners working in healthcare, youth development, community outreach, and conservation initiatives. Among these, the Keli Wagner Lady Angler Tournament supports Carteret Health Care by providing funding for comfort and care items and resources that women can use while receiving treatment. The Big Rock Kids Billfish Tournament will also award $35,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plains, supporting their programs and day-to-day operations in addition to the $150,000 contribution from the Foundation.

This year’s total also includes $180,000 in Board Discretionary Funds, allowing the Board to extend its reach beyond the organizations already selected for 2025.

In 2020, Big Rock contributed $551,000 to charity. By 2021, the organization crossed the $1 million mark for the first time, matched that milestone again in 2022, and went on to contribute $1,684,000 in 2023 and $1,711,000 in 2024. In just five years, Big Rock’s charitable giving has nearly quadrupled, and since 2021, it has more than doubled. That growth is driven by the success of the tournament, the Big Rock retail store, and the unwavering support of the Big Rock community.

“Each year, we are reminded that the Big Rock Family is built on far more than what happens at the scales in June. The passion of our participants, sponsors, spectators, staff, and volunteers transforms this tournament into something with real purpose. Their belief in what Big Rock stands for is what allows us to make such meaningful investments in our community, and witnessing that impact firsthand is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.” – Madison Struyk, Big Rock Executive Director

Every dollar Big Rock donates is a direct reflection of the people who choose to be part of the Big Rock Family: the participants who fish with us, the sponsors who believe in our mission, the spectators who show up year after year, the customers who support our retail store, and the staff and Board who pour their passion into this organization. Their support transforms what began as a fishing tournament into something far greater — a vessel for community impact, creating meaningful change across Eastern North Carolina.

As Big Rock continues to grow, so does the reach of our giving. This year’s record $2 million ensures that our commitment to conservation initiatives, community support, education, and opportunity remains strong for generations to come.

The award recognizes nearly four decades of investment in Carteret County students, teachers, and schools

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (November 17, 2025) — The Big Rock Foundation is honored to receive the first-ever Community Impact Award: Partner in Education from the Carteret Education Foundation, recognizing Big Rock’s long-standing commitment to supporting local schools and strengthening education throughout Carteret County.

For nearly 40 years, Big Rock has invested in Carteret County’s educators and students through grants, programs, and partnerships that enrich learning opportunities and elevate the classroom experience. To date, Big Rock has contributed approximately $2.2 million toward projects and programs that enhance the educational experience for students and teachers in Carteret County. The Foundation’s impact includes initiatives such as the Big Rock Teaching Fellows Program, Professional Development & Teaching Housing Funds, and direct contributions to individual schools for projects like playground construction, outdoor learning spaces, band uniforms, and athletic facility improvements.

Tommy Bennett, Chairman of the Charity Committee and Vice President of Big Rock, added a personal reflection:

“My mother has a needlepoint that says, ‘To whom much is given, much is required,’” Bennett shared. “We’ve been blessed with a lot in this community… and that blessing comes with responsibility. This is our home, and we need to take care of it.”

The Partner in Education Award celebrates that ongoing commitment, and serves as a reminder of what collective generosity can achieve. “Our hope,” Bennett added, “is that Big Rock’s example will inspire others to find their own ways to give back to Carteret County — because every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.”

Big Rock was honored to be recognized alongside such distinguished and altruistic leaders in education. The Individual Impact Award was presented to Bucky and Wendy Oliver, longtime champions of literacy initiatives and workforce development; the Alumni Impact Award recognized Brad Piner, an East Carteret High School graduate who has faithfully guided the Foundation’s financial growth for more than 15 years; and the Employee Impact Award honored the late Rosalie Reeves Dowdy, a beloved West Carteret High English teacher whose 43-year career — and the $200,000 gift made in her honor — helped spark the Foundation’s earliest major investments in local schools.

About The Big Rock Foundation

The Big Rock Foundation is the charitable arm of the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, dedicated to conservation, innovation, and charitable giving. Since 1986, the Foundation has contributed nearly $12 million dollars to organizations across Eastern North Carolina, with a strong focus on education, healthcare, and community development.

A new chapter in Big Rock history was written this season with the launch of the Big Rock Triple Crown, a new championship series celebrating the most consistent and accomplished teams across the Keli Wagner Lady Angler (KWLA), Big Rock Blue Marlin, and Big Rock Kids Billfish tournaments. Ninety-three boats joined the inaugural field, creating a summer-long showcase of skill, determination, and sportsmanship.

Across the three events, the Triple Crown fleet tallied an impressive 417 billfish releases, proving that when it comes to sportfishing in Morehead City, there’s no shortage of talent or passion.

Scoring in the Big Rock Triple Crown rewarded teams for both consistency and performance throughout the series. Boats received 50 points for each tournament they entered, while billfish releases earned additional points by species — 125 points for sailfish, white marlin, and spearfish, and 400 points for blue marlin releases. Bonus points were awarded during Big Rock Kids for releases by junior anglers and non-sonar boats, and weighed blue marlin during the Big Rock Tournament earned one point per pound. The team with the highest combined total across all three tournaments claimed the championship title, while teams opting into Level II ($5,000 Calcutta, 19 boats entered) competed for a share of $80,750 in prize money.

In the Level II standings, MARLIN FEVER finished the season in third place, earning 3300 points and $16,150 in winnings. Their year was highlighted by an impressive performance in the Big Rock Kids Billfish Tournament, where they not only took home the win, but made history as the first-ever repeat champions, following their 2023 victory. In total, the 63’ Jarrett Bay released 4 blue marlin, 10 sailfish and 1 white marlin throughout the series.

DOC FEES claimed third place in Level I with 3425 points, showcasing an impressive season with 7 blue marlin and 3 sailfish released. Although the team did not enter Level II, it serves as a reminder that in the Big Rock Triple Crown, it pays to play. Instead of cash prizes, DOC FEES received a collection of exclusive Triple Crown gear, including a custom YETI cooler with a Triple Crown x AquaTraction topper, BRTC boarding mat, Marine Bean Bags, and Johnnie-O polos and quarter zips designed exclusively for Triple Crown winners — along with one-of-a-kind trophies commemorating their accomplishment.

MARSH MADNESS secured second place in Level I + Level II with 3800 points and $24,225 in winnings for 5 blue marlin, 2 white marlin and 10 sailfish released throughout the series. Led by the father-son duo Captain Shane and Mate Hunter Brafford, who run year-round charters out of Beaufort Inlet, the team’s season reflected both expertise and dedication — proving that experience and teamwork make a powerful combination.

Rising to the top of the Inaugural Big Rock Triple Crown, CARTERICAN captured the championship title with 5150 points and $40,375 in winnings. Their season-long performance included 6 blue marlin, 5 white marlin and 13 sailfish — a reflection of precision, heart, and consistency. This year, CARTERICAN fished in honor of their beloved friend Brittany Kelley, who recently passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer. “Fishing for Brittany was our lucky charm,” Captain Lee Smith shared at the awards soirée, a moment that resonated deeply throughout the Big Rock community.

CARTERICAN’s name is already etched in Big Rock history, having captured nearly every accolade the tournaments offer — winners of the 2025 Keli Wagner Lady Angler Tournament, 2024 Big Rock Kids Tournament, 2025 Big Rock Triple Crown, and the 2018 Fabulous Fisherman’s prize, when they weighed their qualifying blue marlin and took home a 60th Anniversary Rolex. Now, they add the Big Rock Triple Crown Championship rings, custom-designed by Bailey’s Fine Jewelry, to their growing collection of Big Rock bling.

The Big Rock Triple Crown embodies everything the Big Rock stands for — excellence in competition, dedication to conservation, and a shared love for the sport of billfishing. The success of its first season has set the stage for a tradition that will continue to grow, connecting tournaments, anglers, and generations for years to come.

Winners were recognized during a private celebration in Morehead City on October 18, marking the perfect close to an unforgettable first season of the Big Rock Triple Crown Series.

Morehead City, NC (July 23, 2025) – The Inaugural Big Rock Triple Crown (BRTC) presented by Bailey’s Fine Jewelry featured 92 boats. Only 19 of those boats chose to enter the Level II Calcutta, with an entry fee of $5,000, bringing the total purse to $80,750. Diving into the details, boats entered in the Triple Crown weren’t required to fish all three Big Rock Tournaments (KWLA, Big Rock, BRKids). Boats scored an additional 50 points for each tournament they competed in. Scoring for the BRTC followed each of the tournament’s scoring systems, giving boats competing in Big Rock Kids a competitive advantage when billfish were released by Jr. Anglers, earning an additional 25 points AND an extra 25 points were given to releases made by boats without use of a sonar. Now that Big Rock season has come to a close, we’re proud to announce that CARTERICAN is the first ever winner of the Big Rock Triple Crown.

The series began with the Keli Wagner Lady Angler Tournament. CARTERICAN released 3 Blue Marlin, 3 White Marlin and 2 Sailfish (1825 points), winning the tournament and a total of $111,563, this marked CARTERICAN’S strongest day of fishing throughout the series. This gave them a strong advantage leading into Big Rock, where they released 2 Blue Marlin, 2 White Marlin, and 4 Sailfish (1550 points). After the first two tournaments wrapped up, CARTERICAN held a commanding lead, but fished The Big Rock Kids Tournament to seal the deal, releasing 1 Blue Marlin, 1 White Marlin, and 7 Sailfish (1625 points). With 6 BM, 6 WM, and 13 SF across the series, CARTERICAN ended with 5,150 points (including 150 bonus points for fishing all three tournaments) winning the Inaugural Big Rock Triple Crown. CARTERICAN claimed the BRTC Level II Calcutta top prize of $40,375, bringing their total winnings (KWLA + BRTC) to $151,938.

MARSH MADNESS got off to a slow start, only earning 250 points during the KWLA tournament with a White Marlin and Sailfish release. They bounced back during Big Rock with four incredible days of fishing, totaling 5 Blue Marlin, 1 White Marlin and 3 Sailfish. They ended the tournament tied with BUILDER’S CHOICE with 2500 points for 3rd place in the release division. Ultimately, the prize of $59,075 went to BUILDER’S CHOICE, as they were the first boat to achieve the winning total, but MARSH MADNESS did score $5,000 for a daily first blue marlin release. During Big Rock Kids, father-son duo, Capt. Shane Brafford & mate Hunter Brafford, were determined to catch up to CARTERICAN, for their chance at the six custom Big Rock Triple Crown rings designed by Bailey’s Fine Jewelry. Though they didn’t catch anything on their first day of fishing in the tournament, they had a strong finish releasing 6 Sailfish (900 points) on their final day. MARSH MADNESS secured second place with 3800 points, for releasing 5 Blue Marlin, 2 White Marlin and 10 Sailfish (including the 150 bonus points for fishing each tournament). The boat was entered in both Level I + Level II, winning $24,225. Their total winnings (Big Rock + BRTC) totaled $29,225!

With 3425 points, DOC FEES claimed third place in Level I of the Big Rock Triple Crown. DOC FEES didn’t catch any billfish during the KWLA Tournament, but they released 6 Blue Marlin during the Big Rock alone! During Big Rock Kids, their Jr. Anglers released 1 Blue Marlin + 3 Sailfish (875 points). Though they don’t qualify for any prize money in the BRTC, they will walk away with $1,000 for a first release of the day during Big Rock Kids + plenty of BRTC swag at the wards ceremony this fall.

Though MARLIN FEVER finished 5th in the Triple Crown overall, they secured the third place payout in the Level II Calcutta. The 63’ Jarrett Bay came in as the underdog, as they released only 1 Blue Marlin in KWLA and 1 BM during Big Rock (800 points). Their bite was hot during Big Rock Kids where the crew of Jr. Anglers released 2 Blue Marlin, 1 White Marlin and 9 Sailfish (2350 points) in just two days of fishing. MARLIN FEVER became the first ever repeat champion of the Big Rock Kids Tournament, winning a total of $51,125 in the tournament. Additionally, they picked up $16,150 for their 3300 points they earned in the BRTC Calcutta, for a grand total of $67,275 in prize money!

Thank you to the participants, sponsors, and supporters who made each leg of the Triple Crown a resounding success. The inaugural BRTC was one for the books and the story’s not over yet. Big Rock is built on tradition, and this series is a new way to celebrate everything that makes the tournaments so special, from the competition to the camaraderie. Winners will be recognized at a private ceremony this fall. The real champions are the charities Big Rock supports, and we look forward to revealing the charitable impact made possible by this community at the end of the year. Until then, best of luck to all boats and teams as the tournament season continues!

So far, Carterican has released 5 blue marlin, 5 white marlin, and 6 sailfish across the first two events. They’re also the reigning champions of the Big Rock Kids Tournament, adding extra stakes as they look to defend both their tournament title and their Triple Crown lead. If they hold onto the top spot, Carterican stands to take home $40,375 as the Triple Crown champions.

Sitting in second place is Marsh Madness, captained by Shane Bradford, with 2,850 points. Their tally comes from 5 blue marlin, 2 white marlin, and 4 sailfish releases. In the Big Rock Kids Tournament, blue marlin count for 400 points, and white marlin and sailfish earn 125 points each. Junior anglers (16 and under) can earn their teams an extra 25 points per billfish release, which could play a big role this week. Marsh Madness is in contention for the $24,225 second-place payout in the Triple Crown.

Builder’s Choice, with Captain Brent Gaskill, holds third place at 2,750 points but is currently fishing in Bermuda and will miss the final leg of the series. A third-place finish in the Triple Crown would earn Builder’s Choice $16,150.

Doc Fees is close behind in fourth, while fifth-place Dugga Boy is not expected to fish the Big Rock Kids Tournament.

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. — The 67th Annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament was one for the history books. With 272 boats in the fleet and a total purse of $6,325,875 on the line, this year’s tournament delivered everything we’ve come to expect from Big Rock Week and more. A record-setting 420 billfish were released throughout the week, including 238 blue marlin, 109 sailfish, and 73 white marlin. In a historic first, the entire fleet took a lay day on the same day and returned to the water together the following morning, setting the stage for one of the most competitive four-day shootouts in tournament history.

The week’s defining moment came in the final minutes of the tournament. In buzzer-beater fashion, BIG TROUBLE brought a 517-pound blue marlin to the scales. It was enough to claim the Fabulous Fisherman’s Prize of $807,500 on the spot. With no other qualifying marlin weighed, BIG TROUBLE was named the winner of the 67th Annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, taking home a total of $2,285,125.

Angler Brandon Creech called the moment surreal. “I’ve been fishing this tournament for about 15 years, and this is the first check I’ve ever pulled. It all happened so fast—the fight was less than 30 minutes. I thank God for it, the owner, Captain Chris Daniels, and our amazing crew.”

Daniels, who was met at Big Rock Landing by a crowd of fans, added, “Thank y’all for coming out in the rain. I thought we were going back in to nobody at the landing with the weather like it was. It was the perfect bite, the perfect guy on the reel, everything went smoothly, and here we are.”

Second place went to BANKWALKER, with a 449.7-pound blue marlin caught by lady angler Lizzie Montague, earning the team $603,750. “It was the coolest experience of my life,” Lizzie said. “I’ll never take that for granted.” Her father and captain, Bryant Montague, couldn’t have been prouder. “If there’s a million-dollar fish on the line, Lizzie’s in the chair. She’s smooth, steady, and never gets rattled. I’d put her up against any man out here.” Their family boat was filled with generations of anglers, including Lizzie’s 85-year-old grandmother, who fished in this year’s KWLA Tournament and was there to celebrate the catch.

The fleet of Jarrett Bay boats had a standout year, earning $904,525 of the overall purse. The 67’ Jarrett Bay SEA WISH made their Big Rock debut by traveling from Puerto Rico and weighing a 47.2-pound mahi to win the Dolphin Winner Take All Division, earning $563,250 in total prizes.

In the Release Division, the competition was tight between two Jarrett Bay hulls: MAGIC MOMENT (Hull 27) and BUILDER’S CHOICE (Hull 59). MAGIC MOMENT earned 2525 points (6BM, 1WM), winning Friday’s daily release and 2nd place overall with a total of $147,685.50. BUILDER’S CHOICE finished just behind, in 3rd place with 2500 (5 BM, 1WM, and 3 SF) points and a total payout of $118,150, including a blue marlin release by Big Rock Big Hero Joshua Newsome.

DEVELOPIN’ HABITS, a 53’ Jarrett Bay, took top honors in the Non-Sonar Division with 925 points and $75,437.50 in winnings. JOB SITE followed in second place with the help of Big Rock Big Hero Michael Wahl who caught and released 2 Blue Marlin, earning $45,262.50, while C ESCAPE finished third with $30,175.

WAVE PAVER was a force in the Release Division, winning first place with 4 blue marlin, 4 white marlin, and 10 sailfish. The team had an exceptional week that included four Grand Slams — two on Thursday, followed by another on both Friday and Saturday. They earned $206,762.50 in prize money. “This is our favorite stop on the tournament circuit,” said owner JR Davis. “To fish in Beaufort and Morehead City and be embraced by this community means a lot. We’ve caught a Grand Slam outside the U.S., but this was our first domestic one. To end up with four was just incredible.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be Big Rock Week without a little weather and a little suspense. The Big Rock Board of Directors would like to commend the crew of SOUTHERN GRACE for their exceptional catch and display of sportsmanship. We look forward to welcoming them back to Big Rock Landing during Big Rock Kids, July 9-12, 2025. Additional recognition goes to the teams aboard WASTE KNOT (67′ Jarrett Bay) and REEL LINEMAN, who voluntarily pulled their lines in during the final hour of the tournament with millions still on the table to assist a boat taking on water. A special thank you to the crew of COST PLUS, who were not fishing in the tournament but responded quickly to rescue five participants from a burning boat. Thanks to their efforts, everyone returned safely with no injuries.

Looking ahead, the 68th Annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament is set for June 5–14, 2026. With $1,428,000 rolling over in the Super 20 Division, anticipation is already building for another unforgettable week.

To the winners, participants, fans, staff, and sponsors — thank you for making this tournament what it is. The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament continues to set the standard, and we’re proud to be known as the best blue marlin tournament in the world.

ABOUT THE BIG ROCK TOURNAMENTS

The Big Rock Tournament stands as a beacon of excellence in the world of sportfishing, attracting anglers from around the world to the pristine waters off the coast of Morehead City, NC. With a legacy spanning 67 years, it continues to be a cornerstone of the sportfishing community, embodying the spirit of competition, camaraderie, and conservation.

The Big Rock Keli Wagner Lady Angler (KWLA) Tournament stands as the largest lady angler event in the world! This prestigious tournament offers a platform for women to demonstrate their expertise and prowess in sportfishing. Named in tribute to the late Keli Wagner—an enthusiastic angler and cherished member of the Morehead City community who lost her battle to breast cancer in 2008 — the KWLA Tournament is deeply committed to philanthropy, proudly supporting local cancer organizations. Notably, it is an all-release tournament, ensuring that all billfish are released back into the ocean, emphasizing Big Rock’s dedication to conservation. This esteemed event not only celebrates the remarkable skills of lady anglers but also embodies a spirit of sisterhood and charity, leaving a lasting impact both on the water and throughout the community.

The Big Rock Kids Billfish Tournament is a pioneering event designed to inspire the next generation of anglers while raising funds for children’s charities in eastern North Carolina. As the first of its kind, this tournament provides Jr. Anglers (age 16 and under) with an exciting and educational platform to engage in sportfishing. The young anglers catch and release their own billfish, fostering a respect for marine life and competitive sportfishing. Through this unique experience, the Big Rock Kids Billfish Tournament not only gets youth hooked on fishing but also contributes significantly to the well-being of children in the local community. Any age can compete in the tournament, however a competitive advantage is given by awarding an additional 25 points per billfish released by a Jr. Angler.

The Big Rock hosts the largest series of non-profit billfish tournaments in the world. The Big Rock Foundation serves as the charitable arm of the Big Rock Tournaments. The Foundation combines the passion of its donors, tournament participants, sponsors, and retail customers to generate funds for its philanthropic endeavours. Those funds are distributed among a carefully selected group of charities that align with the foundation’s mission. The charities represent a diverse range of causes, including but not limited to education, healthcare, community improvement, and conservation. To date The Big Rock Foundation has contributed nearly $12 Million to worthy causes in eastern North Carolina and beyond!
